Now that they have finally made it available, users of OnePlus 6 and 6T running OxygenOS 11 are experiencing a serious bug. Notably, due to the bug on the OxygenOS 11 update, the WhatsApp application becomes unusable on the OnePlus 6 and 6T. So, if you are an avid WhatsApp user, then it would be best if you wait till you upgrade. OnePlus took a good amount of time to fix the bugs and issues. It took almost a year before releasing the Android 11 OxygenOS 11 update for the OnePlus 6 and 6T. However, the end-product, for some users, is packaged with a WhatsApp bug. According to a report by Android Central, after updating the OnePlus 6/6T with OxygenOS 11 users aren’t able to download any media file on WhatsApp. This is also affecting older photos and videos stored on the device. Those who were thinking of backing up the chat history to try again later, for them it also did not yield a positive result.
The option to factory reset the phone also did not solve the problem on OnePlus 6 or 6T
As per the source, users were asked to factory reset their phones to fix the WhatsApp problem. Sadly, that also did not result in a fruitful outcome. Users could not download media files despite their efforts to start from scratch. The problem is also widespread and is not a fact unknown. The problem is available on either the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T running Android 11 based OxygenOS 11. The WhatsApp issue started surfacing on these devices a week ago. As time is passing by, the Android 11 OxygenOS 11 update is being served on more OnePlus 6 series phones. Due to this, more users are experiencing this problem. It is quite surprising to see such an important WhatsApp bug, which is annoying users for some time, hasn’t been acknowledged by OnePlus. OnePlus hasn’t officially commented or provided a fix for this problem, as of now. Apparently, the problem has been discussed in multiple forums. However, a fix is nowhere to be found. WhatsApp is one of the core features of using a smartphone today.
