Stories will have their own channel where friends can view clips, screenshots, and achievements from game sessions. You’ll also be able to add captions to stories and friends will be able to leave comments or reactions. Unlike regular game clips though, stories will be available for a limited 72-hour time frame. Once created, stories will be posted to your activity feed where friends and the Xbox community will be able to view them until they disappear.

Xbox app stories are soft launching in Australia

Stories should be an interesting new way to create and share content with friends, once it becomes available to everyone. Microsoft is launching Xbox stories in Australia first. So the feature should already be live for users within the country. The company says it will be launching the feature in more Xbox-supported regions soon though. To create a story, all users will need to do is tap the “+” button on their gamertag in the stories channel. From there, users are taken to their gallery where they can select what they’re sharing. To wrap things up, a caption can be added to the story before posting. Stories will be located on the main home screen of the app in the same place you currently see “official posts from games.” In addition to the new stories feature, Microsoft has also added a Quality of Service tag that users can enable within the settings. While users may not need to keep this enabled at all times, it might be useful for when there’s high congestion on the network. As it’s designed to place a priority tag on activities that are more latency sensitive. Such as multiplayer and party chat. This feature should already be live for all users within the network settings menu on Xbox consoles.
