This Google Pixel Fold concept looks like a hybrid between the Pixel 6 & Z Fold 3
He shared the design via his YouTube channel. That video is embedded below the article, and has a duration of around two minutes. It essentially shows a device that looks like a foldable Pixel 6. This design is clearly inspired by both the Pixel 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 3. It shows us a device that opens up like a book, and has two displays, one foldable one, and one smaller cover one on the outside. Very similar to what the Z Fold 2 offers. The designer envisioned the Pixel 6 Pro camera setup on the back, it seems, and the same camera design. There is a display camera hole on the outer display, in the top-left corner. A hole punch is included on the inner display as well, though, in the top-right corner. The phone’s outer display actually comes with quite a considerable bottom bezel, which seems to be thicker than the top bezel. The hinge also looks similar to the one Samsung offers on the Z Fold 3, and disappears when the phone is unfolded.
Google will probably rely on metal and glass to make its first foldable
Glass and metal seem to have been envisioned here as build materials for the device. That is probably what Google will opt for once it decides to deliver its first foldable handset. The launch of Google’s first foldable smartphone may be closer than you think. The device was initially rumored to launch alongside the Pixel 6, though we may have to wait a bit longer than that. Still, the device is still tipped to arrive in 2021. Google may tease the arrival of its first foldable during the Pixel 6 launch event, which is expected to take place on October 19. This phone will likely be quite powerful, when it comes to its internals. Not much information surfaced thus far, though. Do note that the phone may not even be called the Pixel Fold, that is more of a placeholder image for rumors and leaks.
