GalaxyClub (via) speculates that Samsung could be working on the SM-S901E, SM-S906E, and SM-S908E for Africa and Asia. There’s no confirmation on the processors these variants will feature, but recent reports indicate that Samsung will utilize the Snapdragon 898 chip for a majority of the markets, even those that have received Exynos variants in the past.

The new trio of “E” variants could be Samsung’s potential solution for the global semiconductor shortage

Galaxy S22 variants in Europe will bear model numbers ending with “B” while U.S. variants end with “U.” The inclusion of a new “E” variant for markets in Asia (including India) and Africa doesn’t make a whole lot of sense right now, but we’re sure Samsung has valid reasoning behind this. This could likely be Samsung’s response to the global chip shortage that has decimated supply chains over the past year. Some reports have also suggested that there won’t be an Exynos variant of the Galaxy S22 anywhere in the world. Alternatively, GalaxyClub reports that Galaxy S22, S22+, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra could reach Europe with the Exynos 2200. While there’s plenty of speculation about the performance of the Exynos 2200, we don’t know how it will fare against the Snapdragon 898. However, there’s no doubt that both processors are quite ahead of their time. Samsung could unveil the Galaxy S22 flagship in February. The manufacturer had to delay its release to accommodate the launch of the Galaxy S21 FE in January. Although the FE variant was supposed to launch by October, the chip shortage may have pushed its release. We have also come across CPU benchmarks of the Exynos 2200, possibly running on an under-development Galaxy S22 variant. However, there’s still no certainty about where these variants will land. The Exynos 2200 will be the first chipset from Samsung to use AMD’s RDNA2-based GPU with significantly advanced graphics performance. While there are some overheating concerns with this new GPU, Samsung could implement hardware safeguards to counter this. We’ll keep an ear to the ground for more information on Samsung’s upcoming trio of flagships.
