The latest update for the Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+, and Galaxy S10 5G is available widely in Europe and Australia. First reported by SamMobile, the new firmware version for the former trio is G97*FXXUGHVJ5. That for the 5G model is G977BXXUDHVJ5. The update should soon reach other markets too, including the US. The firmware version may vary slightly depending on the market. The Galaxy S10 series is receiving this update with the October security patch. The phones have already picked up last month’s SMR (Security Maintenance Release) in most markets. Since they aren’t getting monthly security updates anymore, the November patch may not arrive. The 2019 Samsung flagships have been demoted to quarterly updates after they completed three years in the market earlier this year. Nonetheless, if you’re using any of the aforementioned four Samsung smartphones, you should soon get a new software update. You can manually check for it from the Settings app or wait for the notification about it. Tapping the notification will prompt you to download the update.

The Galaxy S10 series will not get the Android 13 update

Unfortunately, the Galaxy S10 series isn’t eligible for the Android 13 update. They debuted in early 2019 running Android 9 Pie out of the box. Samsung has since updated the phones to Android 10, Android 11, and Android 12. And that’s all they’ll get. The Korean brand only promised three generations of Android OS updates for those phones. It recently revamped its software support policy to offer four major Android OS updates for flagships and select mid-rangers. But Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+, and Galaxy S10 5G aren’t covered under this extended support. The Galaxy S10 Lite, meanwhile, will get the Android 13 update. It isn’t covered under the new software policy either. But the Lite model debuted almost a year after the regular Galaxy S10 models and came with Android 10 onboard. So its third and final Android OS update is pending. Samsung is already testing Android 13-based One UI 5.0 for the Galaxy S10 Lite. The company didn’t open a public beta program for the phone but the test is underway internally at its labs. It is planning to release the update before the end of this year. We will let you know when the rollout begins.
