As the renders show, the Galaxy A53 5G will sport a punch-hole with noticeable bezels all around. Prior leaks have revealed that it is a 6.52-inch Super AMOLED panel with an FHD+ (1080×2400 pixels) resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The four cameras on the back include a 64-megapixel main shooter, a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens, and two 5-megapixel sensors, possible for macro shots and depth sensing. In other words, the rear camera setup is unchanged from the Galaxy A52 last year. The 32-megapixel selfie camera may carry over unchanged as well. Under the hood of this phone will be Samsung’s unannounced Exynos 1200 processor. This chipset features two ARM Cortex-A78 CPU cores operating at 2.4GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0GHz. We have the ARM Mali G68 MP4 GPU for handling graphics. Samsung could pair the processor with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. A 5,000mAh battery with 25W fast charging, an under-display fingerprint scanner, an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, and the Korean firm’s Android 12-based One UI 4 software should also be part of the package.
Samsung has high hopes on the Galaxy A53 5G
The Galaxy A53 5G has big shoes to fill in. Samsung’s Galaxy A5x lineup has been one of its best-selling since it reworked its budget and mid-range smartphone strategy in 2019. The original Galaxy A50 set a strong tone early on. Its sequels — Galaxy A51 in 2020 and Galaxy A52 in 2021, as well as their 5G and “s” iterations — have further built on that. Samsung is now looking to repeat the success with the Galaxy A53 5G this year. The company already knows the formula, so it shouldn’t be a struggle. But the smartphone market continues to change. So it’s easier said than done. It remains to be seen whether the new Galaxy mid-ranger helps the Korean firm achieve its 2022 sales target. The Galaxy A53 5G could go official next month, alongside the Galaxy A33 5G.
