Galaxy Note 20 series is also receiving the January security patch
Along with a wider Android 12 rollout, Samsung is also seeding the latest January 2022 Android security patch to the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. The initial update for the 2020 S Pen wielding duo came with last month’s SMR (security maintenance release). The newer security patch brings fixes for over 60 vulnerabilities, the Korean brand recently confirmed. Galaxy Note 20 units running the December 2021 SMR should get the update to the new patch in the coming weeks. For the time being, let’s focus on the big Android update. After all, the security patch isn’t of paramount importance here. The Android 12-based One UI 4.0 brings a plethora of goodies to Samsung’s Android-powered Galaxy smartphones and tablets. From UI overhauls and new features to improved performance, there are way too many of them to mention here. We have separately covered them all here. Of course, some of those features will not reach the lower-cost models. But the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra should not be missing out on any of them. Nonetheless, if you’re using one of Samsung’s last Note series phones in the US (the upcoming Galaxy S22 Ultra could be a capable successor), the Android 12 update should be available to you anytime now if it hasn’t already. And you know the drill as far as installing the big update is concerned. You will be notified of it once the OTA (over the air) rollout hits your phone. Of course, you can also check for a new update manually. Simply navigate to Settings > Software update and tap on Download and install. Since it’s a major OS update, it’s a safer practice to create a backup of important files to avoid any unwanted data loss.
